Our annual MARC Open House and Swim Team time trials were both held on June 2nd. The weather was perfect for a day at the pool. We started at 8:30 am with the time trials. We had a great crowd and a group of kids eager to begin the swim season. Later in the day, members and visitors relaxed by the pool, enjoying the water and each other’s company.
Swim team kicked off on Sunday, May 20, with the ice cream social. It was a great time to see old friends and meet new people. The first swim practice was held on the following Monday. Turn-out was good for both events. If you are interested in the swim team, there is still time to join.
The new pool Manager this year is Steve Mitchell. Steve is a recent graduate from North Carolina State University. For the last two years Steve has been the manager at a Raleigh pool. Jennifer Perry, the Assistant Manager, is a familiar face. She was the assistant last year, and is also a student at NCSU.
Summer is fast approaching and the pool opens this Saturday, on May 12th. We passed the pool inspection and everything is set for a smooth opening. We had our strap furniture professionally refurbished and purchased some new chairs, so expect an updated look. The expenditure for furniture was significant, so please treat the new furniture with respect.
The Spring Clean-up Day in April was well attended and the grounds are looking good. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped. There will still be plenty of opportunities to work off your maintenance fees this summer. Please contact Allison Willis at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to schedule maintenance duties for the summer.
For the first time in many years, we will be paying for water this summer. In the past, Heater/Aqua utilities provided water free in exchange for using a well on our property. Since the well is no longer active, Aqua canceled the arrangement. Parents, please remind your kids to limit their water usage in the showers. In the early spring when the weather is cool, it’s tempting for them to stand in the shower for long periods of time to warm up.
Are you thinking about joining the swim team? Are you ready to register? Join us for the annual Swim Team Ice Cream Social on Sunday, May 20, 2:00-4:00 pm. Order suits, chat with coaches, go for a swim, sign up for volunteer positions, and eat ice cream – A perfect Sunday!
Membership bills were mailed in March, so if you have not received yours, please contact Erika Johnson, treasurer, at email@example.com. We have a new option to pay online. If you are interested, the link is included on your invoice.
We continue to have several membership options available, including family memberships, empty nest memberships, partial/weekly memberships and an add-on membership option. Partial/weekly memberships are great if you plan to be out of town for a large portion of this summer. The add-on membership option allows members to add-on a person(s) that lives within the corporate area for $125/each person. This person(s) must be accompanied to the pool by an adult host member and is not eligible to be on the swim team.
If you have neighbors who have just moved into the neighborhood, please take a few minutes to tell them about the pool and encourage them to join. Our June 2nd Open House is a great opportunity for perspective members to come and visit the pool and you can refer them to MedfieldAreaRecreationClub@gmail.com if they have any questions.
